"The President of Belarus is calling. Will you talk?"
Prigozhin's Telegram channel releases snippets of conversations between Putin, Lukashenko, and Prigozhin on the day of the mutiny
The following text comes from today’s posts on Telegram channel Евгений Пригожин в Telegram (Yevgeny Prigozhin on Telegram). The translation is via Google Translate so it’ll be a little rough, but the content overall is fascinating.
I’ve also included a snippet of Putin’s speech because in it he discloses how much the Russian Federation had paid out for Wagner Group services in Ukraine, and a little black humor from the head of Russia’s National Guard at the end of this post.
All of the phone calls happened on June 24, 2023, and it’s President Alexander Lukashenko who’s doing the narrating.
PUTIN AND LUKASHENKO
I am informed - President Putin wants to contact. When he spoke at 10, he called at 10.10 and informed me in detail about the situation that is happening in Russia
The most dangerous thing, as I understood, is not what it was, the situation, but how it could develop and its consequences. I also understood: a cruel decision was made - it urinates.
I suggested to Putin to take his time. Come on, I say, let's talk with Prigozhin, with his commanders. To which he told me: "Listen, Sasha, it's useless. He doesn't even pick up the phone, he doesn't want to talk to anyone."
I ask: "Where is he?" - "In Rostov".
I say: "Good. A poor world is better than any war. Take your time. I'll try to contact him." He says once again: "It's useless." I say, "Okay, wait."
